Senator Francis Fadahunsi has claimed that leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) made several efforts to persuade Governor Ademola Adeleke to join the ruling party but were unsuccessful.

In a video shared by Viable TV, speaking during an interview with journalists, Fadahunsi alleged that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu invited Adeleke on more than one occasion as part of attempts to convince him to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

According to the senator, the APC was prepared to hand over control of its structure in Osun State to Adeleke, similar to arrangements he claimed were made in states such as Akwa Ibom State and Delta State.

Fadahunsi said he was also asked by the president to help persuade the governor, adding that it took several months before he could discuss the matter with Adeleke because of the governor’s cautious approach to politics.

The lawmaker further alleged that different political offers were presented to Adeleke, including proposals that would have given him significant influence within the APC in Osun State. However, he said the governor repeatedly declined to accept the offers.

Fadahunsi maintained that despite the failed efforts to secure Adeleke’s defection, the APC remains determined to regain political control of Osun State ahead of future elections.

In his words, “They even offered to give him the party, the way they were giving Akwa Ibom, Delta and so on, he couldn’t respond.”
