A Senior Shepherd of a White Garment Church at Omitoto Lane 2, Oke Odo in Ile-Ife, Osun State, Evangelist Olagbaju Fadehan, has been allegedly murdered by his serving assistant, Evangelist Olalekan Ogundipe.
OSUN DEFENDER learnt that Fadehan was brutally killed and burnt to death by Ogundipe on Monday, February 26, 2024.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, raising concerns about religious leadership and conflict resolution within the congregation.
According to eyewitnesses, there was an altercation between Fadehan and Ogundipe, which later escalated to a violent confrontation after the close of service on Monday evening.
The confrontation later resulted in the alleged killing of the senior shepherd by his assistant.
Ogundipe was said to have allegedly stabbed the deceased to death and set him ablaze with his white garment.
The medium learnt that police authorities from ‘C’ Divisional Police Station, Aghun Ile-Ife, were alerted to the incident that led to the arrest of the junior shepherd.
The motives behind the conflict remain unclear, leaving many bewildered as to why such an incident would happen within such a short period.
However, OSUN DEFENDER reliably gathered that the suspect has confessed to the crime, revealing that the deceased and him were having affair with same woman who is a member of the church.
Confirming the arrest in a telephone interview with OSUN DEFENDER on Tuesday, the Spokesperson of the Osun Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, disclosed that the suspect has been arrested and detained at the command.
She said: “We are aware of the incident. The suspect has been arrested and detained at the police command for thorough investigation”.
However, members of the church are calling for justice to be served swiftly and decisively on the matter.
The church members also called for measures to be implemented to prevent such tragedies from reoccurring in the future and to foster peaceful resolution of conflicts within the congregation.
