OSUN DEFENDER reports that the day began with thousands of Muslim faithful observing their Eid prayers in different Eid praying grounds in Ile-Ife. Thereafter, they trooped to the Ile-Oodua Palace of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, for Sallah homage.
The palace courtyard brimmed with Islamic scholars, residents, and traditional chiefs in celebration of Eid-ul-Adha.
Addressing the gathering, Ooni Ogunwusi congratulated Muslims on the successful completion of this year’s Hajj rites and the symbolic slaughtering of rams, urging continued unity and interfaith understanding.
“As we celebrate today, may we witness many more celebrations. May the Almighty spare our lives and grant us peace,” the monarch said, extending special greetings to the Chief Imam of Ifeland, Alhaji AbdulSemiu AbdulHammed.

Earlier in the week, the Araba Agbaye, Chief Ifa Priest of the World, Araba Awodotun Aworeni Mokoranwale II, praised the monarch’s efforts in sustaining the cultural heritage of the Yoruba through unwavering royal support.
“Ifa is not superstition—it is a codified wisdom system that has guided Yoruba civilisation for centuries,” the Araba noted.
Despite the proximity between the Central Mosque at Enuwa and the Ifa Temple, which initially sparked security concerns, no violent incidents were reported.
