How Labbadia Who Lasted 4 Months In Last Job Got Eagles Role

Nigerians, especially football lovers woke up to the news of the appointment of a new gaffe for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

The Nigeria Football Federation, around 5:00 a.m., announced the appointment of a German tactician, Bruno Labbadia, as the new Super Eagles coach, with immediate effect.

Labbadia’s appointment was disclosed in an early morning tweet on Tuesday via the NFF’s X handle, tweeting as #thenff.

The statement read, “The Nigeria Football Federation has announced that it has reached an agreement with German tactician Bruno Labbadia to become the Head Coach of Nigeria’s senior men’s national team, Super Eagles.”

“The NFF Executive Committee has approved the recommendation of its Technical and Development sub-committee to appoint Mr Bruno Labbadia as the Head Coach of the Super Eagles,” according to the federation’s General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi.

Labbadia becomes the 37th Head Coach of the Super Eagles after the resignation of former coach, Finidi George.

However, his appointment has generated missed reactions as netizens shared their views on the new manager.

“Is a coach not as good as his last job again?

“A coach who has no experience at the national team level?

“A coach who has never won a spoon in his 21-year career?

“A coach who doesn’t have any experience in African football(as per one of the criteria NFF said any applicant should have)?

“A coach the German FA cannot hire for their U-17 talkless of their national team?

“And he agreed to start work “immediately” just a few days before the AFCON qualifier? Who interviewed him? How did he get the job?”

A X user, Shina Oludare,
wrote, “Only God knows who recommends Grade C coaches for the Super Eagles job. Take Bruno Labbadia, for example—he’s never won a title as a manager.

“His last stint was at Stuttgart, where he was fired after just four months when the team plummeted to the bottom of the table.”

Another X user, Mr Nigerian Football  @AJSilverCFC, wrote,
“Dear Bruno Labbadia – listen up: You’re not our first, second or even third choice manager but somehow you’re here.

“You have our support, but never forget this rule: Whatever you do – even if we miss out on the AFCON or World Cup – DON’T EVER LOSE TO GHANA OR SOUTH AFRICA!.”
