Facts have emerged on how a retired controller of customs, Mr Emmanuel Owolabi, who was kidnapped at his home in Ora Igbomina, Ifedayo Local Government Area of Osun State, was rescued.

A local security outfit known as Kiriji Heritage Defender claimed responsibility for the rescue of the retired customs controller.

Owolabi had been kidnapped by unknown gunmen in his house in December last year and was taken to an unknown location, where he spent a month.

Findings revealed that the retired customs controller was rescued at his kidnapper’s den in Kwara State, from where he was brought home by men of the Kiriji Heritage Defender.

Recall that men of the Kiriji Heritage Defender has combed the forest of Osun, Krwara and Kogi States in the penultimate week to rescue the victim.

A personnel of the Kiriji Heritage Defender who simply identified himself as Musibau said he singlehandedly drove the victim to his residence in Ora Igbomina from the kidnapper’s den after securing his freedom.

He said the commitment to duty and determination of his men to safe lives of innocent people led to the rescue of the retired customs controller.

The coordinator of the security outfit, Dr Ademola Ekundayo, warned againstthe  invasion of the state and other Yoruba-speaking states by kidnappers, saying his men are battle-ready to make the South West unbearable for criminals.

Ekundayo said the Kiriji Heritage Defender is prepared to provide adequate security for the people of the South West geo-political zone in particular and Nigeria at large.
