A Katsina State bound woman identified as Aisha Abubakar has confessed what led her to crime after authorities found a cache of bullets in her possession aboard a state government-owned mass transit bus at the weekend.

In a video circulating online, Aisha claimed she was driven by hunger to accept the illegal task of serving as a courier, apparently for bandits.

Speaking in Hausa language to her interrogators, Aisha denied any prior involvement with such activities. “I have never done this before,” she pleaded, adding that, “hunger pushed me into this.”

According to the suspect, a stranger had entrusted her with the ammunition, claiming complete ignorance of the man’s identity or whereabouts. “I don’t know what it is,” she claimed. “It was given to me by a man, I don’t know him, his name or where he lives.”

When pressed about the intended destination of the bullets, Aisha claimed that she was instructed to leave them “at the stream along Hanyin Dantumaki in Katsina (State)” for someone else to pick up the parcel.

As of the time of this report, Katsina State Police Command was yet to issue a statement regarding the arrest and the discovery.
