Husband Arrested For Alleged Murder Of 15-Year-Old Wife
A 25-year-old man, Sufiyanu Aliyu, has been arrested for allegedly killing his 15-year-old wife, Suwaiba Abubakar, in Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The Public Relations Officer, Sokoto Police Command, DSP Ahmad Rufai, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Wednesday.
According to Rufai, the incident, which occurred on October 27 at the suspect’s residence in Gwanyal Village, was reported to the police by a good Samaritan.
“Upon receiving the report, operatives were immediately dispatched to the scene.
“The area was visited, processed, and cordoned off for forensic analysis,” he said.
Rufai added that the suspect was apprehended at the scene, while a knife believed to have been used in committing the crime was recovered as an exhibit.
Preliminary investigations, according to the police spokesperson, revealed that the suspect had a heated altercation with his wife, which tragically escalated into violence.
“Allegedly, Aliyu used a knife to inflict fatal injuries on the victim, leading to her death,” Rufai stated, adding that the suspect had confessed to the crime during interrogation.
The police spokesperson further said that the victim’s body was taken to a hospital, where a medical doctor confirmed her death.
He noted that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for detailed investigation and that the suspect had been charged in court for prosecution.
