I Almost Died – Mike Tyson
Boxing legend Mike Tyson has revealed a life-threatening health ordeal that nearly derailed his high-profile fight against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul.
The bout, held at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in front of a sold-out crowd, ended with Tyson losing on the judges’ scorecards.
However, the 58-year-old icon sees the experience as a personal victory.
Reflecting on the fight, Tyson shared on social media: “This is one of those situations where you lose but still win. I’m grateful for last night. No regrets about getting in the ring one last time. I almost died in June—had 8 blood transfusions, lost half my blood, and 25 pounds in the hospital.
“I had to fight hard just to be healthy enough to compete. To have my children watch me go toe-to-toe and finish 8 rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboys Stadium is an experience no man has the right to ask for. Thank you.”
The former heavyweight champion disclosed that his hospitalization in June stemmed from severe blood loss, which required eight transfusions and left him dangerously underweight.

Despite the grueling recovery process, Tyson was determined to step back into the ring, motivated by the chance to inspire his children and demonstrate his resilience.
The fight was a milestone for both fighters.
Though Tyson ultimately fell short in the match, but he emphasized it symbolized a triumphant return against all odds, while for Paul, it further solidified his reputation as a serious contender in the boxing world.
