Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Amaju Pinnick, has said that he is not desperate to become President of the Confederation of African Football, CAF can report.
Pinnick, on several times has said that he will not re-contest for position of the NFF presidency but considering taking the bull by the horn by contesting for the position of the CAF president as the elections draw close.
Confederation of African Football (CAF) president, Ahmad Ahmad, had announced that he will be re-contesting for second term when his tenure expires next year.
Applications to stand in the March 2021 elections are already opened and will close on November 12, 2020.
However, Pinnick says there are a lot of checks and balances he needs to do before considering whether to contest for the highest football position in Africa.
The NFF supremo revealed that he had wanted Ahmad to stay for second term giving him more time to decide.
“Human beings make mistakes and the only way you can correct those mistakes is to ensure that you know you have made these mistakes and genuinely want to correct it. If that’s the case, we can’t sit there and do nothing.
“Nobody is in a hurry, I am not desperate, I am going to be just 50 in December so there is a lot of time for me if I want to pursue a career path in football administration in the future, “the NFF President said.
After the controversial saga that happened between Pinnick and Ahmad, the Nigerian did not give further details on his relationship with Ahmad. Pinnick last year lost his role as a Caf vice-president without explanation.
