I Have No Intention of Leaving APC — Badaru
Former Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru, has dismissed reports claiming he is planning to defect from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing the claims as false and politically motivated.
Badaru said this in a statement personally signed by him and made available to journalists on Tuesday by his media aide, Mati Ali.
He described the reports as baseless and speculative, while reaffirming his continued loyalty to the APC.
Speculation had intensified following reports of an alleged rift between Badaru and his successor, Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi, within the ruling party in the state.
Supporters of the former minister had earlier alleged that they were being marginalised and excluded from government and party affairs in Jigawa State.
Some party members loyal to Badaru were also reported to be threatening defection over the situation.
Reacting, Badaru firmly denied the rumours.
“I categorically state that the report is entirely false, unfounded, and a product of political mischief,” he said.
He added, “My loyalty to the party remains absolute and unwavering.”
Badaru urged the public and members of the APC to disregard the reports.
“I remain a dedicated member of the party and have no intention whatsoever of leaving the APC,” he said.
