THE candidate of Accord Party in the forthcoming July 16 gubernatorial elections in State of Osun, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, has stated that he never sat one-on-one or had political relationship with the All Progressives Congress presidential aspirant, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Ogunbiyi noted that political opponents in his former party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were behind the insinuation that he was planted by Tinubu as mole within the party.
The governorship aspirant made this known on Wednesday while featuring as guest in April’s edition of The Frontliners, a special personality engagement programme organized by the Association of Veteran Journalists, Osun chapter, in Osogbo.
He said: “I am Akinade Ogunbiyi. I have no political relationship with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. I respect him for what he has done for Yoruba race but I can’t be his mole at any party. I am a man of my own. It is those in my former party, PDP that instigated that to weaken me.”
Speaking on his defection from the PDP, Ogunbiyi accused the leadership of the party of not having interest of Osun at hearts, saying they are only after “their pockets”.
Ogunbiyi said: “We had known that Uche Secondus would go. But when he finally left, Iyorcha Ayu became worse. The day I met Ayu, He told that he has no interest in Osun matter and not ready to listen to anyone. That is when I decided to leave the party.”
He called on voters in Osun to vote for someone who has what it takes to boost the state’s economy, stating that he will be the first person to present a trillion naira budget.
