Ibadan Mogajis Rebuke Alaafin Over ‘Ade Pali’ Remarks
Ibadan Mogajis have cautioned the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, over alleged disparaging remarks directed at Governor Seyi Makinde concerning beaded crowns presented to elevated chiefs in Oyo town.
In a joint statement on Tuesday, Mogaji Abass Oloko and Mogaji Ademola Olasomi Oladosu expressed concern over the monarch’s reference to the crowns as “Ade Pali,” describing the term as ridiculing and disrespectful.
They maintained that the elevation of chiefs and presentation of beaded crowns were conducted in line with tradition and due consultation, stressing that similar exercises had been undertaken in Ibadanland with the consent of the Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The Mogajis warned against comments capable of inflaming tensions or undermining constituted authority, urging restraint, mutual respect and collaboration among stakeholders to sustain peace and development across Oyo State.
