Ibom Air Says Staff Not Behind Comfort Emmanson Viral Video

Ibom Air has distanced itself from a viral video showing passenger Comfort Emmanson in a compromising state during her forced removal from one of its flights.

The airline’s Group Manager for Marketing and Communications, Aniekan Essienette, told TVC News on Monday that although the incident happened on an Ibom Air aircraft, no staff member was responsible for circulating the footage.

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, had earlier condemned the release of the indecent video and vowed to identify and sanction those responsible.

Essienette explained that several people present during the incident were not airline employees, adding, “As much as the video was taken on board, we had several other people who were not Ibom Air employees around the vicinity. So, anyone could have taken that video.”

She insisted the airline had no role in making the footage public, describing its circulation as unfortunate.

According to her, Emmanson was removed from the flight after resisting instructions to disembark.

“She had tried to come out earlier, but she was restrained because of some activities that had happened behind the scenes, and eventually, the pilot in command had to call security,” she said.

Though the identity of the person circulating the video cannot be ascertained as at the time of publication, however, OSUN DEFENDER can confirm that the person who recorded the video is well known to the flight crew and the air hostess accused of stripping the unruly passenger can be clearly seen on the widely circulated video.⁩

Essienette urged authorities to focus on preventing similar incidents in the future, stressing that no airline would deliberately humiliate a passenger.
