ICPC Quizzes FCT Senator, Contractors, Others Over Constituency Project

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has invited the Managing Director of Maicat Nigeria Limited, Ishaku Maigida, the contractor who is executing one of the constituency projects nominated by the Senator representing Federal Capital Territory, Philip Aduda.

The project, which is domiciled under the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), was sensitisation and awareness for youths and women in the FCT on marketable skills.

Sixty persons each, including women and youths, were selected to be trained on liquid soap production, cake baking and pastries making; hairdressing, barbing saloon, and air freshener production in Phase 1 of the projects.

The participants were nominated by the constituency office of the lawmaker after N100m, according to ICPC, has been appropriated for the programme.

The commission, through one of the Chief Security Officers, who led the tracking team, Taminu Yakubu, during the commencement of Phase 3 of the Constituency and Executive Projects tracking exercise at weekend, explained that the exercise was to ensure the project was properly executed.

He noted those invited were not called on the basis of interrogating them but to ensure that they were checked and balanced, adding that the executing agency, NAPTIP, told the commission that it was only 50% of the funds that had been released.

Other stakeholders invited for explanations were some participants of the training; Danjuma Shokolo, the project manager from the office the lawmaker, Aduda; the manager of the venue, Mango Park, Area 11, Garki; NAPTIP officials and other officials at Aduda’s constituency office.
