Governor Ademola Adeleke has instituted a 24-hour curfew in Ifon, Ilobu and Okanla towns of Irepodun and Orolu local government areas of the state, over a boundary dispute that has led to the loss of lives and property in the communities.
In a statement on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday evening, Governor Adeleke said he has ordered strict enforcement of the curfew.
The Governor said after meeting with the leadership of both communities alongside security agencies, the government has taken over the land which is causing the crisis, for development purposes.
Adeleke noted: “I have just met with leaders from both Ilobu and Ifon, along with heads of various security agencies in Osun state, to address the recurring communal clashes. I’ve instituted a 24-hour curfew, and the disputed land will now be taken over by the state for development purposes.
“I have instructed the heads of security agencies to enforce the 24 hours curfew in Ifon/Ilobu/Okonla rigorously and to take action against anyone found violating it. I have also authorized the use of force if deemed necessary to maintain order.”
