Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has approved the immediate relaxation of the curfew earlier imposed on the crisis-ridden communities of Ifon, Ilobu and Erin-Osun, following positive security reports from top security chiefs in the state.

The new directive, which takes effect from Saturday, 19th July, 2025, adjusts the existing 9pm to 6am curfew to a new time frame of 12 midnight to 4am daily.

The decision, according to the state government, is aimed at easing movement and returning normalcy to the affected areas, while still keeping surveillance to prevent a relapse into violence.

Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, made the development known in a statement issued to journalists in Osogbo on Saturday.

He quoted Governor Adeleke as commending traditional rulers, the Olufon, Olobu, and Elerin along with stakeholders, for their roles in restoring peace to the embattled communities.

“Following the return of peace in the warring communities of Ifon-Ilobu-Erin Osun, it gladdens my heart, as the Chief Security Officer of Osun State, to direct that the hitherto 9pm to 6am curfew will now be between 12 midnight and 4am, with effect from today,” Adeleke was quoted as saying.

While expressing appreciation for the cooperation of community leaders, the Governor also warned that his administration would not hesitate to deal decisively with any individuals or groups found fomenting trouble in the area.

He further urged the 100-man Boundary Resolution Committee to expedite action on the lingering land boundary dispute between the three communities to ensure permanent peace.
