Ifon-Orolu Community Denies Involvement In Death Of Ilobu Indigene

The Ifon-Orolu Progressive Union (IPU) has denied a report making the round that an indigene of the town reportedly killed an Ilobu man.

The union said indigenes of Ifon-Orolu are peaceful and won’t engage in actions that could lead to the breakdown of law and order.

Osun Defender reports that Ilobu-Asake Vanguard in a Facebook post, alleged that an Ifon-Orolu indigene killed an Ilobu man, identified as Sikiru Onaolapo, on his farm on Tuesday.

The post was accompanied by a video of the deceased with sympathisers thronging the palace of the Olobu of Ilobu, Oba Ashiru Olatoye.

But IPU in a statement signed by Prince Jide Akinyooye, a copy obtained by Osun Defender, said the report was malicious and false.

The statement urges security agencies to investigate the allegations surrounding the reported killing.

The statement read in part, “The Ifon-Orolu Progressive Union (IPU) has been made aware of malicious propaganda circulating about the people of Ifon-Orolu Kingdom being responsible for the reported death of an Ilobu man. We strongly deny these allegations and condemn any actions that could lead to a breakdown in law and order.

“We commend the rapid response of the Osun State Government, led by His Excellency, Asiwaju Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke, and all security agencies for ensuring safety and protection in both Irepodun and Orolu State Constituency.
