Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the House of Representatives seat of Ede North/Ede South/Egbedore/Ejigbo Federal Constituency, Prof. Siyan Oyeweso has declared that he would not step down for any other political party’s candidate.
Oyeweso debunked speculation that he was planning to withdraw for another candidate.
He therefore expressed optimism of winning the constituency seat in the lower chamber of the National Assembly.
According to him, “I have traversed the length and breadth of the Federal Constituency asking for people’s support. Why will I withdraw from the race after earning the trust of our people in the constituency? That will amount to betrayal of their trust and it will mean I am not a man of my words.”
“There is no iota of truth in the rumor that I withdrew from the race to satisfy some powerful forces within Ede. In fact, I am not in any discussion with any person or group in Ede that may see me withdrawing. I cannot begin to exhibit such instability at this level in life”, he added.
“I have spoken to our people and I have seen their belief and commitment to my vision for the constituency. The support I have received across the Federal constituency assures me that I will be victorious on the 16th of February.”
Oyeweso, a Professor who just recently withdrew his service from employment of the Osun State University to fulfill the provisions of the electoral law said “I am contesting to offer quality service to our people, one that has eluded them for years. Those who are familiar with me know that I am always committed to the development of people and this is why our people believe in me. I am confident of victory in this election.”
