Ikire Agog for Bola Oyebamiji…. As Commissioner Bags “Otun Asiwaju” of Ikire land

It was another feather to the cap of the Osun Commissioner for Finance, Mr Bola Oyebamiji as he was on Saturday bestowed with the title of Otun Asiwaju of Ikire land while his wife, Mrs Sekinate Oyebamiji bagged the title of Yeye Asiwaju of the ancient town.

The Akire of Ikire land, Oba Olatunde Falabi, Lambeloye III made the announcement and decoration during the reception organized by the Ikire Progressive Union for the finance expert on his appointment as Osun Commissioner for Finance.

It was a full capacity multipurpose hall of the GT hotel, Ikire, venue of the programme as sons and daughters of Ikire as well as friends and well wishers of the Commissioner thronged the ancient town to join in the celebration of Mr Oyebamiji.

The two in one programme had earlier witnessed the official commissioning of the Ultra-modern Idi-Ada Mosque, Ikire, rebuilt by the Balogun Musulumi of Irewole, Ayedaade and Isokan local governments.

In his keynote address at the occasion, Governor of Osun, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola described the Osun Finance Commissioner as someone who does not joke with his job, religion and his people at any point in time, describing him as a unique son of the state.

The governor who was represented at the occasion by the state Deputy Governor, Mr Benedict Alabi charged youths in the state to imbibe the hardworking spirit of Mr Oyebamiji as a way of making an headway in life.

The state helmsman described the title bestowed on Oyebamiji as well deserved and befitting because he has worked assiduously for the growth and development of Ikire town and the entire state.

In his words, “There is so much to say about Oyebamiji, he is athorough bred and hardworking professional. He is the kind any Governor will be proud and happy to have in the cabinet of the state. He is a lover of his town and state who will do anything for the progress of his people.

“The title of “Otun Asiwaju of Ikire” that has been bestowed upon him today is a well deserved one, he does not joke with his town and his people”. The Governor stated.

In his appreciation message, the obviously elated Commissioner for Finance who dedicated the Chieftaincy title to the state governor, said governor Oyetola has demonstrated so much love to Ikire town and the state general since assuming office as governor.

He then promised that he will strive not to let the town down, stressing that he will continue to do his best to ensure that the ancient town continues to have an all round development.

According to him, “I dedicate this title to the almighty God who has given us life to witness this glorious day. I thank my Governor, the Governor of the state of Osun, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola who has continued to show tremendous love for Ikire and the state at large, that is why I dedicate this title to him.

“I see this Chieftaincy title just given to me as a challenge to do more, I promise the people of Ikire and the entire state that i will not let them down in any way, with the help of God, Ikire town and the state of Osun will continue to progress”. Oyebamiji stressed.

The National President, Ikire Progressive Union, Prof. Peter Olaitan earlier in his welcome address eulogized Mr Oyebamiji for his love and commitment to the growth of Ikire.

Dignitaries at the well attended event include: members of the state executive council amongst whom are Commissioner for Works, Mr Remi Omowaye, Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Mr Yemi Lawal, the Alapomu of Apomu, Oba Kayode Afolabi, Olukoyi of Ikoyi, Oba Bamitale, local government Chairmen among others.
