By Bisi Adesoye

A retired police officer, now Chief Odole of Ilesa, Chief Ayinla Jeje Oladele and his brother who parades himself as Oba Aloba of Iloba-Ijesa, Olalekan Olanrewaju Oladele have been dragged to court for impersonation.

The police claimed that Olanrewaju wears beaded crown, use on his vehicle plate number “Oba Iloba” which were not approved by Osun State Government.

When the case came up on Thursday before Magistrate B.O Awosan, the representative of Attorney General was not in court as a result of delay of police case file to get the office of Attorney-General for study.

At the hearing, the accused solicitor, Jola Akintola urged the magistrate to compel the police to release the vehicle plate number belonging to Olanrewaju which was impounded by the police.

The magistrate however did not grant the request of the accused lawyer.

While speaking with Oba Ilesanmi Okikiola, the presumed authentic traditional ruler of Iloba said he was installed as Oba Iloba three years ago by Osun State Government.

He said he was given part two traditional ruler and instrument of office and that his name had been in Osun State Government gazette.

According to him, the impersonation offence committed by Chief Odole of Ilesa and Olanrewaju was reported to Obanla of Ilesa, Chief Oyekanmi Ogedengbe to avoid criminal litigation yet Chief Odole failed to reason along the line.

He said himself and Odole are from the same ruling house but to be able to sell family land the former personally decided to instal Olanewaju as the Traditional Ruler of Iloba without Osun Government approval.

The case had been adjourned to January 9, 2019 for hearing.
