A Magistrates’ Court in Osun on Wednesday, remanded one Adedigba Emmanuel, 31, over alleged N512,000 fraud.
The Prosecutor, Insp Ona Glory, told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometimes in March 2017 at Gbalefefe area, Modakeke.
Glory said that the defendant fraudulently obtained N512,000 cash from one Faniyi Ezekiel with pretence to process University admission for his daughters and which he failed to do.
He added that the defendant stole cash sum of N512,000, property of one Fayuji Ezekiel.
According to him, the offence contravened sections 383, 390(9) and 419 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to two-count charge of fraud and stealing.
The Defence Counsel, Mr T.A. Adebiyi, pleaded for the bail of the defendant in most Liberal term, pledged that his client would not jump bail, but would provide responsible sureties.
Magistrate Habibat Basiru did not grant the bail of the defendant, but asked the counsel to come with a written application.
Basiru ordered for the remand of the defendant in Ile-Ife prison custody.
She adjourned the case until July 22, for hearing
