Incessant Grid Collapse An Embarrassment, Oyetola’s Loyalist Tells Tinubu
Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a close ally of former Osun governor, Gboyega Oyetola, who currently serves as the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy in President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet, has strongly condemned the frequent collapse of the national grid, describing it as an “embarrassment” to the nation.
Oyintiloye, a former lawmaker, called for a presidential investigation into the matter, citing the need to restore sanity to the power sector.
The APC chieftain voiced his concern while speaking with journalists on Sunday in Osogbo.
“I believe that a Presidential investigation into this matter will unravel what the problem is and the possible lasting solution to it.
“The country is blessed with all the resources needed to keep the grid running, so why collapse all the time?
“The embarrassment must stop and sanity must be brought back to the power sector for the sake of our economy.
“If an act of sabotage is involved, through investigation, that will be revealed,” he said.

The former lawmaker said at the end of the investigation, anyone found culpable of sabotaging the electricity sector should be made to face the full wrath of the law.
He also urged Adebayo Adelabu, minister of power, to ensure that those responsible for the maintenance of the grid were up to their responsibilities.
Oyintiloye said since Nigerians were already paying so much for electricity, they should be allowed to enjoy the benefits.
The APC chieftain’s comments come on the heels of widespread criticism of the government’s handling of the power sector.
Many Nigerians have taken to social media to express their frustration with the frequent grid collapses, which have left many without power for extended periods.¹
Oyintiloye’s appeal to President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the matter is seen as a significant development, given his position within the ruling party.
