Independence Day: 50 Osun Students To Slug It Out For Grand Prize
50 out of the 816 students of Osun descedent who participated in the Essay Competition organised by the State Government of Osun to mark Nigeria’s 61st Independence Anniversary will today slug it out for the grand prize.
The competition, which held among 702 tertiary institution and 114 public and private secondary schools in the state within a 62-day window is geared towards rewarding hardworking, creative and intelligent students in the state according to the Commissioner for Regional Integration and Special Duties in the state, Hon. Olalekan Badmus.
Venue is the Staff Development Centre behind the State Secretariat, Abeere.
According to Badmus, seasoned academics, high profile journalists and eminent personalities across all walks of life examined the entries received where 25 students each were shortlisted from the tertiary institutions and public and private schools categories.
The immediate past Chief of Policy and Plans of the Nigerian Army, Lt. General Lamidi Adeosun is expected to chair the event while the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun Larooye II is the Royal Father of the day. The statement adds that Governor Adegboyega Oyetola will be the Chief Host and the Special Guest of Honour at the event.
