Independence Day: Customers Stranded As Zenith Bank Server Down

Thousands of Zenith Bank customers found themselves stranded on October 1st, Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day, as the bank’s services, including its Mobile Banking App, USSD, Internet Banking, and Corporate Internet Banking platforms, went offline due to a scheduled IT maintenance.

The outage, which began at 12:01 am, left many unable to perform essential banking transactions, causing frustration across the nation.

Many Nigerians, who had planned to make purchases, pay bills, and send funds during the public holiday, took to their Twitter (X) handles to express their grievances.

The bank said, “Please be informed that we are currently undertaking a routine maintenance of our Information Technology Infrastructure, to enable us significantly improve the quality of service rendered to you.

“On Tuesday, October 01, 2024, our Mobile Banking App, USSD Service, Internet Banking, and Corporate Internet Banking platforms will be unavailable between the hours of 12:01 am and 02:30 pm WAT.

“We solicit your understanding and offer our assurances that measures are in place to minimize any service interruptions during the exercise.”
