inDrive Passenger Alleges Death Threats Over Negative Review
A passenger, Tobi Afolabi, has alleged that an inDrive driver and his associates harassed and threatened his life after he left a poor rating on the ride-hailing app.
Afolabi, who tweets as @uxtobiaf, took to X on Wednesday to share his ordeal, revealing that he had been receiving threats since giving the driver a two-star rating.
In a series of posts, he accused the driver of sending menacing messages and involving others to intimidate him over the review.
“Posting this here just so everyone can be aware that inDrive employs drivers who harass you and send their friends to harass you over a review. I’ve been fielding calls from this guy and his friends all day because I left an honest review after a ride on Sunday. Use inDrive at your own risk,” he wrote.
Screenshots shared by Afolabi showed the driver issuing a direct threat: “Oluwatobi Omo Afolabi. Do you have an idea why people sleep and don’t wake up again? Literally, your answer here will depend on my next action.”
Despite Afolabi insisting that the ride ended on Sunday, March 16, and there was no need for further contact, the driver persisted.
“You see, life doesn’t revolve the way you think. Guess inDrive really pays you for this. I will make you famous today,” the driver wrote.
Afolabi also claimed he had been receiving calls and messages from unknown numbers since posting the review.
Expressing frustration over inDrive’s handling of the situation, he stated that the app’s support team only offered generic apologies without taking immediate action.
“#inDrive, this is how your drivers harass someone over leaving a review. I reached out to in-app support, and you did nothing,” he added.
Following the widespread attention the incident garnered, inDrive responded publicly, saying, “At inDrive, we have a zero-tolerance policy for unethical driver behaviour, and we are deeply concerned about the incident. Please DM us the details of the ride, and we will take immediate action against the driver. The safety of users is our priority. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.”

This latest incident comes as concerns over passenger safety on inDrive continue to mount.
On Tuesday, OSUN DEFENDER reported that an inDrive passenger, identified as @moomoo_fresh on Instagram, recounted a harrowing experience of escaping a kidnap attempt while using the ride-hailing service, Indrive.
Another passenger claimed she was physically attacked by an Indrive Driver after joking about removing “AC money” from the fare due to the car’s faulty air conditioning.
With these back-to-back complaints, many social media users have raised concerns about passenger safety and the accountability of ride-hailing services in Nigeria.
