The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November 11, 2023 governorship election in Kogi state, Ahmed Ododo, has been declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
INEC’s Returning Officer for the Governorship Election in Kogi State and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Professor Johnson Urama, made the declaration after the end of collation of results from the 21 Local Government Areas in the State.
Urama said out of the total registered voters of 1,932,474 in the state, 794,500 were accredited to vote.
He said APC’s Ododo polled a total of 446,237 to defeat SDP’s Ajaka who scored 259,052.
He said the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Leke Abejide scored 21819 votes while the flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), during the poll, Senator Dino Melaye polled 46,362 votes.
Other candidates and total votes scored by their parties include: A – 1254, AA – 1440,
