Kano Pillars goal machine Junior Lokosa has said that he will be excited at the call up into the Super Eagles ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, but claimed his biggest dream now is to help his club win a fifth Nigeria Professional Football league title.
Lokosa, 24, added more goals making his total tally 14 in 14 games after bagging a brace for Kano Pillars in a match day 15 fixture against FC IfeanyiUbah at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Wednesday.
The striker is now nine goals away from equalling Mfon Udoh’s all-time record (23 goals) set in the 2013/2014 season.
There have been calls in several quarters for the former First Bank of Lagos striker to be invited to the Super Eagles ahead of Russia 2018 after the team struggled to score goals in last month’s friendly games against Poland and Serbia.
“It will be a remarkable achievement if I get the chance but I am not thinking too much about that at the moment,” Lokosa told CSN.
“The number one thing on my mind now is to help my club (Kano Pillars) win the league.
“I don’t want to put too much pressure on myself and at the end of the day fail to meet people’s expectations.
“It is my dream to play for the country and I believe the invitation will come at the right time.
“I believe I still have a lot to learn and I will keep working hard to get to the required standard.”
