Insecurity: ESN Is Not The Solution

An Igbo group in diaspora has urged Southeast Governors to embrace the Eastern Security Network and cancel the “Ebube Agu”, they are proposing.

The group condemned Ebube Ag00u, described it as a phony Trojan horse, calling on Federal Government and governors in the region to partner the Eastern Security Network in tackling insecurity in the land.

The diaspora union which is the umbrella body for Igbo communities and cultural association in the United States of America, condemned the inability of the Government at the central to proffer solution to banditry and terrorism across the country.

The group made the calls through a statement signed by their Coordinator, Ike Orji, and Secretary, Mr Matthew Ohanele and made available to newsmen in Asaba.

The group urged the governors in the region not to contemplate the use of military force against their people but to evolve ways to partner ESN to combat the incessant killings in the region.

“While the Federal Government paid ransoms and negotiating with terrorists, Igbo men and women, who lost their lives, crops, property, raped and sexually assaulted, were left to cater for themselves, such lame and naive approach only emboldens the murderers and killers.

“We, the Igbo Union, frown on and condemn in totality the use of the military force by any governor in the South-East.

“The grass roots Ndigbo are in total support of the establishment of the Eastern Security Network to protect lives in Igbo land, and we urge the governors not to sabotage the security outfit for the zone”, the statement reads.
