Insecurity: Kwara Lawmakers Ask For Joint Task Force To Combat Kidnapping

 

The Kwara State House of Assembly, on Thursday, asked the state government to reintroduce the joint task force to provide surveillance across the 16 local government areas in the state.

The joint task force, it said should comprise the police, the armed forces and vigilante group of Nigeria.
This was part of the resolution on a motion on the spate of kidnapping in the state, moved by Hon. Ambali O. Ibrahim, (Owode/Onire constituency), and seconded by Hon. Saidu Baba, (Bani/Adena constituency)

The House, also called on security agencies to improve on the security architecture, especially intelligence gathering towards dealing with kidnapping and security of lives and property of the citizenry.

It further urged every member of the communities in the state, to report any strange movements within their respective areas to security agencies.
Recall that three persons, were kidnapped on Monday in two farms at Pampo village, in Asa Local Government Area of the state by heavily armed gunmen.

The kidnappers are demanding N45m ransom for the victims, even as the police have launched a manhunt for them.
The spokesman of the state police command, Mr Okasanmi Ajayi, confirmed the development.
