Nigeria’s former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has berated President Bola Tinubu over his failure to tackle the security crisis in the country.
The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the last election, said Tinubu should step aside if the shoes are too big for him.
Atiku frowned at the recent surge in the kidnapping and killing of unsuspecting citizens across the nation.
He recalled the killing of a nursing mother and her mum in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, and the murder of two monarchs in Ekiti State.
The Adamawa-born politician imagined how the President embarked on a private visit to France amid the ravaging banditry and other security issues bedevilling the nation.
In a post on his official X handle, Atiku wrote, “Tinubu is playing fiddle while Nigeria is drowning in the ocean of insecurity. Imagine that the Commander-in-Chief is on a so-called private visit.
“At the same time, kidnappers kill a nursing mother and grandmother in Abuja for failing to pay N90m ransom and two monarchs in Ekiti, among other regular tragedies besetting Nigerians.
“If the shoes are too big for Emilokan, he should step aside. Nigeria does not need another Tourist-in-Chief. The country needs 24/7 leadership to confront the pervasive insecurity and collapsing economy.”
