The World Institute for Peace on Sunday said it is set for this year’s International Peace Conference and Award in Nigeria.
The Conference according to the Institute will be an opportunity for stakeholders to collaborate, exchange ideas, and propose innovative strategies to combat banditry and other social vices which will, undoubtedly, contribute to building a more peaceful and secure Nigeria.
The event, which aims at addressing the banditry and other social vices affecting the country, will take place on December 6 at the Nigerian Army Resource Center in Abuja.
This was made known in a statement by the Executive Director of the Institute, Chief Kamiludeen Lamina, a copy obtained by Osun Defender in Osogbo.
According to Lamina, the conference will bring together world Peace Ambassadors and solutions providers from various backgrounds.
Lamina noted that the conference is expected to provide a lasting solution to the prevailing issues of banditry and social vices in Nigeria, which have posed significant challenges to national security and development.
At the event, Lieutenant General L. O. Adeosun (rtd) CFR will receive an award as The Bearer of Security Torch (TBST).
Also, the Olowu of Kuta, Oba Hammeed Oyelude Makama, a former field commander of Amotekun in Osun, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, Abiola Makinde, lawmaker presenting Ondo East/West at the National Assembly and others will be honoured.
Lamina stressed that the awardees were carefully and diligently selected based on their known dedication to promoting peace and security across the globe.
According to him, “Adeosun has been selected for this distinguished honour as The Bearer of Security Torch because of his extensive experience and contributions in the field of security.
“He added that HRM Oba Hammeed Adekunle Oyelude Makama, Olowu Kuta, has been an advocate of a better life for military officers in Nigeria, hence, the conferment of Knight of World Peace (KWP) on him.
“Also, the likes of Comrade Amitolu Shittu, Honourable Abiola Makinde, MHR representing the people of Ondo East/West and many other awardees have carved a niche for themselves in the efforts of securing lives of Nigerians.”
