The Pan-Yoruba Socio-Political organization, Afenifere has advised President Muhammadu Buhari administration to allow National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members to serve in their home states.
Afenifere made the call through a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Jere Ajayi on Monday.
The organization bemoaned how corps members were asked to inform their people to prepare ransom in case they were kidnapped while traveling, insisting that Nigeria requires adjustment where necessary.
According to the statement, “What else could underscore the unfortunate level to which insecurity in the country has fallen? It is in this respect that Afenifere calls for the NYSC to allow youth corners to serve the nation in their respective states at least for now.”
The Yoruba group also maintained that the continued treatment of perpetrators of kidnapping with gloves hand by the federal government has emboldened the perpetrators to continue in their wicked acts.
“We call on the government to immediately allow states to transform their respective security networks into state police with all the powers appertaining thereto”, Ajayi added.
