The Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Osun State Command, Agboola Sunday has directed all Area Commanders and Divisional Officers to strengthen their operational capabilities in ensuring smooth security of the public space to guarantee a crime–free enabling environment in the state.
The Osun NSCDC boss gave this charge during monthly Strategic Meeting with Area Commanders and Divisional Officers at the state headquarters in Osogbo, Osun.
Commandant Agboola stressed the need for officers to have a firm control of their respective jurisdiction.
He said, “The activities of insurgents, kidnappers and bandits have crippled the nation’s economy. You need to be on your toes to smoke out criminally minded people in the society”.
The State Commandant also gave a marching order to his personnel to ensure the security of public space to guarantee a crime–free and enabling environment.
The Osun helmsman emphasized that officers must be emplaced at worship centres, markets and public places in the state inorder to prevent attacks on such places.
He stressed the need for Area Commanders and Divisional Officers to have a good relationship with their immediate communities in order to gather credible intelligence that would help tackle various insecurity issues affecting the country. He noted that intelligence is the bedrock of security agencies and it must be taken seriously.
The meeting availed the officers with the opportunity to discuss pertinent security issues affecting them in their areas of responsibilities. “I urge you to go back and implement issues discussed,. It should be visible in your service delivery”.
