The House of Representatives’ Committee on Constitution Review has suspended the planned public hearing in Imo State.
Recall that Osun Defender had earlier reported that Ahmed Gulak, a former adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan was shot dead in the state.
This was disclosed by the Deputy Speaker and Chairman of the Constitution Review Committee Ahmed Wase, who announced the postponement on Sunday.
The committee is commencing public hearing on the constitutional alteration exercise to amend the 1999 constitution.
According to him, “The House of Representatives Special Committee on Constitution Review Zonal Public Hearing scheduled to take place in Owerri Centre (Imo and Abia States) on Tuesday, 1st and Wednesday, 2nd June, 2021 has been suspended until further notice.
“The Committee regrets any inconveniences this might cause our esteemed guests, stakeholders and the general public.”
It is unknown if the postponement is connected with the sit-at-home order by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). The Eastern Security Network (ESN) has also been linked to the unknown gunmen terrorising the Southeast geopolitical zone.
