The South West Security Network codenamed Amotekun, Osun Command, has assured residents of its commitment to protecting the state borders against infiltration by criminal elements.
The State Commandant of the Amotekun Corps, Brg. Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi (Rtd) gave the assurance in a telephone interview with OSUN DEFENDER on Wednesday.
Adewinmbi who was reacting to the recent killings and kidnappings in neighbouring states, noted that adequate measures were in place to curtail the spread of insecurity and crime in Osun State.
He said the security outfit has taken proactive steps and strategies to man the inter-states borders, adding that there is a 24-hour patrol to intensify intelligence gathering and monitor the situation.
The commandant urged residents to stay calm, noting that there is an ongoing collaboration with the heads of other security agencies in the neighbouring states, particularly the Amotekun corps in Ekiti, Ondo, and Kwara.
He said: “We do meet regularly to strategize and agree on issues relating to security and in the case of any emergency, we find ways to help one another and promote peace and unity in the society.
“Amotekun in the state is ready and positioned to protect all the citizens. We are trying our utmost best to ensure that we curtail insecurity to the minimum level in Osun.”
Adewinbi urged the residents of the state to be security conscious and call the attention of security personnel in case of emergency or strange movement in their areas.
