Zamfara State government has shut down seven major roads and some markets as part of measures to contain insecurity in the state.
The state Commissioner for Information Alhaji Ibrahim Dosara, disclosed this Friday.
The roads are Colony to Lambar Boko, Bakura to Lambar Damri Road, Mayanchi- Daki Takwas to Gummi Road, Daki Takwas to Zuru Road, Kucheri- Bawaganga – Wanke Road, Magami to Dangulbi Road, Gusau to Magami Road.
Dosara said following the recent spate of attacks on some communities across some local government areas of the state and the rising cases of kidnapping in the state, Government had considered and approved some measures to curtail insecurity in the state.
“Government is saddened and worried about the resurgence of the activities of bandits and the recent killings of some innocent people in Gusau, Tsafe, Gummi, Bukkuyum, Anka Bungudu, Maru, Maradun and Kaura Namoda Local Government Areas,” Dosara said.
Other measures taken are shutdown of Anka, Bukkuyum and Gummi local government areas as well as towns and villages including Yarkofoji, Birnin Tudu, Rini, Gora Namaye, Janbako, Faru, Kaya, Boko and Mada.
“All movements are henceforth restricted in the aforementioned local governments and towns. Security personnel have been directed to deal ruthlessly with anybody found violating the restriction order. The state government also considered closing down the markets at Danjibga and Bagega,” he added.
