Internal Security, Pivotal To Achieving Good Governance – Oyetola

 

Governor, State of Osun, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola has said that internal security is pivotal to the achievement of good governance at all levels of government in the country.

The Governor stated this on Tuesday while playing host to the newly deployed State Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), CIS Uba Panshekara and his counterpart in charge of the State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Commandant Oguntuase Adeyinka Kingsley who were both on a joint familiarization visit to the State Helmsman.

 

Governor Gboyega Oyetola maintained that the two paramilitary organizations are very germane to the achievement of security of lives and property in the state and the nation at large, which he stressed is the primary responsibility of every government.

Governor Oyetola enjoined the security outfits not to rest on their oars at ensuring that issues ranging from illegal immigration, kidnapping, to influx of criminals parading themselves as miners from neighbouring countries and banditry of all kinds, are addressed completely, requesting them to monitor mining activities across the state with a view to ridding the state of criminals and criminality of all kinds.

Mr. Oyetola told his visitors that his administration is working on the possibility of registering all miners across the state with a view to regulating mining activities and arresting security challenges most especially the very ones that emanates from same.

The Governor who said his administration despite its present lean financial status has not reneged on its promises to the people while seeking for their support, as evident with the restoration of prompt payment of full monthly salaries to workers and other monumental strides, assured the two security organizations of his administration’s assistance within its financial ability.

In their separate remarks, the State Comptroller of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), CIS Uba Panshekara and the State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant Oguntuase Adeyinka Kingsley congratulated Governor Adegboyega Oyetola on his recent deserving Supreme Court victory revalidating his election by the good people of Osun and the recent appointment of his immediate predecessor in office, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as the Honourable Minister of Interior.

The two Service Commanders who appreciated Governor Gboyega Oyetola for the innumerable supports received by their organizations from his administration, pledged their absolute and effective cooperation to the success of the present administration in the State of Osun.

The duo solicited for information that can be of assistance to them from members of the public with a view to ridding the state from all kinds of crimes hook, line and sinker as soon as possible.

They assured the Governor that their paramilitary organizations would complement his administration’s quest at registering all miners in the state with a view to flushing out criminals hiding under the guise of mining to engage in criminal activities.
