Iranian state media claims it recovered a U.S. Air Force officer’s ID and an Israeli-issued permit from the wreckage of a destroyed U.S. C-130 in Isfahan.

Iranian state TV showed what it said were the identity documents of ‘Major Amanda M. Ryder’ alongside a B2 stay permit issued by Israel, which expired on 20 March 2026.

These were reportedly found in the wreckage of a destroyed C-130 transport aircraft near Isfahan.

Outlets including Times Now and Middle East Eye noted the find but stressed that the documents’ authenticity has not been independently verified.

Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman, Esmaeil Baqaei, suggested the U.S. operation could have been a deception aimed at acquiring enriched uranium, citing inconsistencies in the pilot’s reported location and the mission’s proximity to Isfahan, home to key nuclear material stockpiles.

The mission involved multiple MC-130J aircraft, helicopters, and a large contingent of special operations forces.

Some assets were reportedly destroyed to prevent capture. Former intelligence and military personnel have questioned why such extensive resources were deployed for a single rescue, fuelling speculation that the operation’s true objective may have involved Iran’s nuclear facilities rather than solely retrieving personnel.
