The Chairman, Irepodun South Local Council Development Area, Honourable Adekunle Kamoli Oloyede has said that the newly-introduced parliamentary system at the Local Government level would be a catalyst for bringing the desired sustainable growth and development to the grassroots in the state.
He made the statement at the council secretariat in Erin Osun during his swearing-in ceremony and inauguration of members of the parliament in the council, as the parliamentarian elected their principal officers into various offices.
Gbadamosi Dauda Ishola was elected as the vice Chairman by the parliamentarians; Adeniran Kazali Ajibola was elected the leaders of the house; Adurolu Isiaka Ayanbisi was elected as the Deputy leader while Asiru Latifat Adenike is a member of the Parliament.
In his acceptance speech, Oloyede expressed his appreciation to Almighty Allah and to Governor of the state, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola for introducing parliamentary system of government at this point in time.
According to him, the system would fastrack development at the grassroots and reduce cost of governance.
He then congratulated all members of the Parliament well-wishers and their relatives for their understanding, maturity and cooperation in ensuring the successful conduct of the election in Irepodun South LCDA.
He concluded his address by expressing gratitude to the stakeholders in the council, starting from the Elerin of Erin-Osun, Oba Yusuf Omoloye, the council of chiefs, as well as the entire people of the council for their support so far and promised not to let them down.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Engineer Rufus Oyegbile commended the governor for his wisdom which, he said is obvious in the infrastructure developments across the state despite the dwindling resources coming from the federal government purse couple with the global economic recession.
He then enjoined all the Parliamentarians to emulate the good work to ensure continuity in government, just as he reminded all the councillors not to forget the promise made to the electorates and wished them a successful tenure.
