The Chief Imam of Offa, Sheik Salman Muhydeen has urged electorates in the State of Osun to vote for candidate of their choice and believe that only God crown kings among multitude.
The cleric spoke at the third Ramadan lecture, organized by Oranmiyan group in collaboration with enroute Rauf.
He warned the electorates to vote for the candidate of their choice without being induced, this, according to him, would enable them to have a say when such elected individual reneged on his electoral promises.
“All the aspirants should know that God is only the King maker not a human being and it is important to work for the masses rather than to work for selfish interest because electorates are there to vote for a candidate who would govern them.”
Speaking on the achievement of Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s administration, he said the governor has fulfill his electoral promises to residents of the state.
This, he said the governor has done through infrastructural development in Osun.
He added that the restructuring of the education system in Osun carried out by his administration has also given the children of the common man the opportunity to have access to quality education.
According to him, the government built the new schools purposely for Osun residents who cannot avoid private schools for their children.
“Aregbesola has transformed the state even beyond the expectation of the people, hence the need for a successor that would continue the good job for the progress of the state”
Another Speaker, Alhaji Musbahudeen Orimadegun, charged youths on the need to engage themselves on lawful business so as to secure their future after school so as to make themselves relevant for the nation.
The Islamic scholar from Osun State Polytechnic Iree, admonished electorates to vote for intelligent, energetic, and trustworthy person in the coming gubernatorial election in the state, adding that people should look for antecedent of an aspirant and the blueprint that would favour the generality of the state.
Sheik Daoud Alfanla, in his own lecture tasked political office holders to endeavour to find out the needs of the people they govern in order to proffer solution to their problems.
Alfanla cited examples of prophets in the Quran who had compassion for the people they govern and task those in the seat of power in Nigeria to emulate them.
Earlier, Mr Niyi Aluko, the Coordinator of the Oranmiyan Group said Aregbesola, the founder and mentor of the Group is worth celebrating because he has transformed Osun in his seven and half years as governor.
