The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Monday said its troops have killed a Hamas sniper responsible for wounding an Israeli soldier during an operation in the northern Gaza Strip on Sunday.

According to the military, soldiers from the 401st Armoured Brigade, under the 162nd Division, located and eliminated the sniper. The injured soldier reportedly sustained light wounds.

The IDF said the targeted strike was part of a broader campaign in Gaza carried out in coordination with Military Intelligence and the Shin Bet security agency.

In northern Gaza, the 215th Artillery Regiment also killed Hamas operatives to support advancing ground forces.

Elsewhere, the 36th Division reported destroying major underground infrastructure and killing militants in the Khan Younis area, while the 99th Division dismantled tunnel shafts near Israeli communities along the Gaza border.

In the south, the 143rd Division’s 6th Brigade directed an Air Force strike on a terror cell attempting to plant explosives, killing all members of the group.

The IDF said ongoing operations across the Strip are aimed at dismantling Hamas’s military capabilities and preventing future attacks on Israeli forces.
