Controversial Onitsha-based cleric, Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, better known as Odumeje, has threatened to make Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeem Christian Church of God (RCCG) deaf and dumb.
Odumeje’s warning comes a few days after Pastor Adeboye deleted the prayer post made to Israel amid its war with Hamas in Palestine after coming under fire from netizens.
In a goodwill message titled: “Special message to the nation of Israel”, Adeboye said all the members of the RCCG are praying for Israel to have “absolute victory” in the ongoing conflict.
“The almighty God, the only one of Israel, will give you absolute victory and give you permanent peace from now on in the mighty name of Jesus,” Adeboye had prayed in a video clip shared on the church’s page on X.
“It is going to be well with you. We pray that this war would be the one that would be end of all wars.”
Criticising Adeboye’s message, Odumeje, in a now-viral video, threatened to make any Nigerian pastor who keeps calling for prayers for Israel “deaf and dumb”.
He, however, urged clerics to rather focus their prayers on the challenges bedevilling Nigeria.
He said, “Your own country Nigeria, you have not prayed for your president who does not know left and right.
“Any pastor I hear say pray for Israel… If you pray pim for any Israel, I will make you deaf and dumb.”
Recall that on October 7, Hamas, a group, currently governing the Gaza Strip of the Palestinian territory, infiltrated Israel and unleashed an unprecedented attack that resulted in the death of over 150 Israelis.
More than 4,000 people have reportedly been killed on both sides since the latest conflict began.
