ISWAP has executed the village head of Malam Boulamari, a locality between Mainé Soroa and Chetimari in Niger’s Diffa region.

The brutal act, shown in graphic images shared by the group, highlights the insurgents’ ongoing campaign of terror in the region.

The execution is thought to be part of ISWAP’s continued campaign of violence in the region, aimed at local authorities and civilians whom the group accuses of collaborating with the Nigerien government or security forces.

The Diffa region, located near the borders with Nigeria and Chad, has long been a hotspot for insurgent activity.

ISWAP and Boko Haram have regularly attacked villages, security forces, and humanitarian workers.

Both groups accuse local leaders of assisting government operations, often leading to violent reprisals like executions and kidnappings.

The persistent violence has displaced thousands, creating a dire humanitarian crisis.

Basic services such as healthcare and education are severely impacted, and efforts by international organizations to provide relief are often thwarted by the constant insecurity.

Despite these challenges, the region remains a focal point for insurgent activity, with peace and stability continuing to elude the area.
