Iyabo Ojo Threatens Legal Action Against Baba Ijesha Over Comments on Her Children

Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Iyabo Ojo, has threatened legal action against actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, over his claims that she once entrusted him with the care of her children, Festus and Priscilla.

She described the allegations as “false and misleading” and warned him to stop using her children’s names in public.

Baba Ijesha was arraigned on June 24, 2021, on a six-count charge, including indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault, attempted sexual assault by penetration, and sexual assault by penetration.

On July 14, 2022, a Lagos high court sentenced him to 16 years in prison for sexually assaulting a minor.

The sentence ran concurrently, meaning he spent roughly five years behind bars and was released in November 2025.

In a recent interview with Biola Bayo, Baba Ijesha claimed that comedian Princess had set him up with the victim.

He also alleged that Iyabo Ojo had once entrusted her children to his care.

“When they told me about Iyabo Ojo, I told the person that she is my product. I cannot wish her bad. I do not want women to have problems. But what Iyabo turned into today, I do not understand,” he said.

“I told my apprentice to watch over them while I checked their mum. When I got to the place, I met a crowd, so I knew it was not a place you could just get what you wanted and go home immediately.”

Reacting to the interview, Ojo emphasised that she regarded him solely as a senior colleague and stressed that her children were never left alone.

“Honestly I have no problem with you, Baba Ijesha, telling your side of the story. But take this as a notice to CEASE AND DESIST from using my children as your cheap bait. It won’t fly,” she wrote.

“My kids have always had nannies or my late mum with them, and they were never alone.

“At my former business place in Ilupeju, I had multiple staff, including stylists, sales reps, and apprentices, so it’s unlikely I’d be the one running errands. I can send a worker if needed. I’m okay with you sharing your story, but don’t mislead the public with false claims about my kids.

“You were a senior colleague, no more to it; however, that 14-year-old girl was a minor, and sexual assault is never okay. It is a crime. You should show some remorse.”

Ojo concluded by warning Baba Ijesha to stop mentioning her children or face legal consequences.

“The court found you guilty based on evidence, so please don’t drag my kids into this. Stop mentioning their names else I would direct my counsel to serve you appropriate papers,” she added.
