JAMB Waives 2024 UTME Registration Fee For Persons With Disability
Persons with disability who wish to register for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in 2024 would do so for free.
This was announced by the Registrar, of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof Ishaq Oloyede, during a media interactive session to herald the registration process for the 2024 UTME.
According to him, JAMB will as a form of support, issue free application documents to all categories of Persons living with disability.
He added that audiobooks will now be provided for all blind candidates in order to create a level playing field for all candidates.
Oloyede explained that the suggestion for the provision of audiobooks was made at the first National Conference on Equal Opportunity of Access to Higher Education in Nigeria.
Continuing, he said “it was a digital adaptation of the traditional reading book and will come in popular audio format such as MP3, WMV, and WMA and compatible with all devices that can stream audio records.
“This will help the blind candidates to easily understand the subject/text,” he added.
Diagrams will also be removed from blind candidates’ questions according to the JAMB Registrar.
For the 2024 UTME, an e-copy of the reading text will also be provided free for all categories of candidates, the registrar also stated.
