JCI Charges Market Women On Proper Disposal Of Waste

The Junior Chamber International (JCI), Osogbo wing on Saturday, enlisted the significance of healthy environment during the world clean up day at Oroki Market, Alekuwodo Osogbo last weekend.

The Non Governmental Organization in partnership with State of Osun Government, Youth Corps, exposed market women to the prosperities environmental cleanliness, particularly public places like markets.

JCI leader in Osogbo, Ridwan Bamidele explained the significance of healthy environment and said it transform poor societies into salubrious environment, noting that government alone cannot do the job but need helping hands.

He added that environmental sanitation is necessary to ensure a disease-free environment, saying market women must be informed of the need for proper environmental sanitation which will enable every individual to live in healthy environment.

“Packing garbage around living area is hazardous to the environment and human health, but we can make the waste a worth for our self if we take proper care of them”, he added.

He hinted that the JCI will organise clean up seminar for secondary schools, market women and other stakeholders where the NGO will educate them on the relevance of waste.

While speaking, Director Environmental Monitoring Enforcement and Planning in Osun, Peter Aleshinloye, laud members of JCI, Oroki chapter for the campaign which he said was in line with the government daily activities embarked on to ensure safety environment.

“Government has done much in the area of waste management and sanitation, flood erosion control and so many”.

Noting that the government is available for any kind of this, he urged more non-governmental organizations, to partner with the Osun government in service to humanity.

The Iyaloja of Oroki Market, Mrs Sidikat Abidogun praised JCI and government of Osun for making sure market environment is always tidy to discourage outbreak of diseases.
