The chairman of the Jigawa State Local Government Service Commission (JSLGSC), Alhaji Kabiru Sugungu , says the commission spent N19.5 million on staff training in 2016.
Sugungu told the News in Dutse on Friday that 800 staff across the 27 local government areas of the state benefited from the training.
According to him, 309 out of the beneficiaries are pursuing various degree programmer, 201 are for Higher National Diploma and 290 for National Diploma certificates.
The chairman also said that the commission had screened another 53 staff drawn from the state’s local governments for training this year.
He said as part of the reward for hard work, 2,500 staff members were promoted to various cadres between 2016 and date, while three others were facing disciplinary actions.
He said the state government was up to date in the payment of staff salaries, pensions and gratuities to those who had retired from its service.
The chairman said that the government also paid death benefits to beneficiaries of those that died in active service.
He appealed to the workers to always put in their best, adding that there is reward for hard work.
