Two young men reportedly lost their lives after drowning in a dam while attempting to evade arrest during a National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) raid in Kazaure town, Jigawa State.

According to a post by security and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, sources noted that the NDLEA operatives raided a suspected drug joint in Ganguli, Kazaure, at about 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.

The victims, identified as Garzali Garba, 22, of Tsohon Kafib Quarters, and Usama Ahmed, 21, of Kanti Quarters, both from Kazaure, tried to escape by diving into a nearby dam but tragically drowned.

In response, security agencies, including the Police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), were deployed to prevent unrest.

The NDLEA office in Kazaure was also reinforced, while community leaders and stakeholders were engaged to calm residents and maintain peace in the town.
