Jitters In Osun APC Over Omoluabi Caucus’ Membership Registration

There are indications that the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) may be unsettled following the membership registration launched by the leadership of the Omoluabi Progressives, a caucus of the party, last weekend.

OSUN DEFENDER had reported the symbolic launch of the membership registration of the Omoluabi Progressives, with its stakeholders including the immediate-past Minister of Interior and former Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, former Osun SSG, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, former Speaker, Dr. Najeem Salaam, former Osun APC Chair, Revd. ‘Lowo Adebiyi, among others headlining the process.

Findings by Osun Defender revealed that the development has caused ripples in the rank and file of the opposition party in the state.

It was gathered that the party oblivious of the soaring membership of the caucus, the Osun APC summoned an emergency extended state executive committee meeting on Tuesday, with the membership registration of the Omoluabi Progressives as one of its major discussions.

Part of the resolutions at the meeting signed by Sooko Tajudeen Lawal stated that “The meeting also clarified that the party has not started any membership registration in the state and any form of registration on behalf of the party is unknown to any organ of the party and therefore, the party members should ignore such registration in whatever form.”

However, a member of the caucus from Ede, Mr. Kehinde Alebiosu said he has completed his registration and now identifies as a full-fledged member of the Omoluabi Progressives.

According to him, the group believes in the stewardship of its leadership headed by Alhaji Azeez Adesiji, noting that the caucus is focused on its mission of reclaiming the state in 2026.

“I am now a certified member of the Omoluabi Progressives. I was part of those who registered as a member of the caucus over the weekend. I am a true Omoluabi and I believe in the stewardship of our leaders. This is just the beginning of the efforts we are making to reclaim the state in the next governorship election in Osun State.

“We will continue to drive the Omoluabi ethos because that is what we are known for and come 2026, we will make history,” he stressed further.
