Job Racketeering Allegation: Police Service Commission Staff Ask Tinubu To Sack IGP
President Bola Tinubu has been asked to sack the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun with immediate effect over the rift between the Police Service Commission (PSC) and the police high command.
Members of staff of the PSC who made the request on Wednesday said the call became imperative because the IGP had caused confusion for the President from his recent reaction to the latest recruitment of police constables.
Speaking under the aegis of the Joint Union Congress of the commission, the members of staff said Egbetokun was lying about the recruitment list.
Addressing journalists during a press briefing at the headquarters of the PSC in Abuja, the chairman of the union, Adoyi Adoyi, argued that IGP’s action was capable of causing chaos, which he said was against his profession.
The union leader also alleged that some elements within the police attempted to smuggle over 1,000 names into the recruitment list. He described the allegations levelled by the IGP against the commission as false, unfounded, and spurious.
Osun Defender reports that Egbetokun last Saturday, rejected the list of successful candidates for police constables, alleging that it was marred by irregularities and corruption.
